When it comes to friendships I feel like we each have our own role to play. From my perspective, I see myself as the friend that gets called if someone is feeling sick or needing encouragement in marriage, pregnancy, childbirth or life in general. Several of my close friends could attest to getting packages on their doorstep or in their mailbox in times when they’ve felt down. It’s mostly when something is NEEDED and not readily available to get from the store. I know a sweet handwritten note is always nice to receive but I typically forget those things. It’s the odd stuff that probably half of people wouldn’t think about that I offer up. I usually don’t give advice to friends that live close by without coming over to supply what they need if I can! I am all about sharing!

I asked two of my very best friends what the ONE thing that stands out the most when it comes to getting something from me in their time of need and they both agreed, Colloidal Silver is the winner! It is a natural antiviral, anti-fungal, antibacterial liquid. It is amazing for wounds and infections, eczema and is anti inflammatory among MANY other things!  I’m going to back up a bit though because I want to share how I came to find out about Colloidal Silver and then share more of what it’s good for and why you might want to have it in your medicine cabinet.

In 2007, I had breast reduction surgery. (My large chest was a major source of insecurity for me but that’s another story for a different day) After going back to work just a week post-surgery, I discovered worse and new bruising that would end up being torn tissue and bleeding that happened internally on the right side. This meant that I needed a second surgery to go in and repair what was wrong. After the surgery, I continued to have an opening in the vertical incision that would not heal. I didn’t realize it then but it was a staph infection. It took a long time for my breasts to heal and then the staph began to show up in other places. In the summer of 2008 I got a bug bite on the back of my left knee that would NOT get better. It was red and hot to the touch. My younger brother told me it was a staph infection but I ignored him. Then around Christmastime, on my bikini line, I had a small area that had gotten so bad I couldn’t sit without it hurting. I HAD to go to the Doctor. I got in the day before Christmas Eve and right away I was told to have someone be ready to come pick me up because I was going to have to a small procedure to have the staph infection removed. Y’all…. I had to call Jeff! We had only been dating for a month and a half. Talk about EMBARRASSING! But, nonetheless, he took off work early and drove all the way to Waxahachie from Dallas to scoop me up and take care of me.

I would eventually also have the back of my leg cut open and staph removed twice in the next two years. The last time it was cut open was the beginning of August 2010. With every new infection I was given antibiotics. With every antibiotic treatment, my body and the staph infections began to resist the antibiotics which meant they would no longer work for me even though I needed them. I couldn’t tell you the number of times my Mom tried to get me to take Colloidal Silver during this time and I resisted. #1 – People need to come around to new ideas in their own time. #2 – I can be very stubborn and really have learned most things the hard way in my life.

When I FINALLY gave in and started on the Colloidal Silver for my staph, I never looked back. I researched all the uses of Colloidal Silver and it became a staple in my home. I also found out that Jeff knew all about Colloidal Silver because that is what was given to him to pack his stomach after his appendectomy wound turned to staph. (His appendix burst several years back and he waited 4 days to go to the hospital…and even flew to Santa Fe with it burst. Talk about STUBBORN! I just happened to be in San Marcos with my friend that introduced us when we both found out. I stopped right then and called my Mom to pray for him. So grateful he’s alive!)

I’ve used it for SO many things over the last several years. I have given it to my husband, the kids, and have only had ONE other staph flare up since 2010 which was when I was pregnant with Luke in 2016. My Midwife had me take 3 Tbs of Colloidal Silver for 2 days and the issue resolved itself. I absolutely swear by it! I use the liquid for many different things and I also have a Silver Gel to keep on hand for cuts, scrapes and burns! At the first sign of any kind of ickies, Colloidal Silver is what I’m reaching for first. I have friends that make their own Colloidal Silver but I’m not that fancy, and most likely won’t be as long as I can buy it online. Go ahead and click here to read more about Colloidal Silver and it’s uses!

Now, I’m just a wife and mother on my own health journey so it’s up to you to do your own research and find what is best for your family. For us, we’ve only had 1 sick Doctor visit in the last 6+ years for the kids. I’ll do a more extended post on kids wellness soon but for now, just know that I am NOT anti-science or medication or doctors. I respect all of that! I share this now because I know that antibiotics are over prescribed and once they’re overused, they won’t work when you REALLY need them. I want to know that if for some reason my kids, husband or I need antibiotics that they are going to be able to do their job. Apart from the Colloidal Silver benefits and uses for my family in the last several years, I have to tell you that I also chose to take a path toward healing my body from the inside out. I worked on healing my gut with good, quality Probiotics, Omega3s, etc. I cut out processed foods and talk about that in previous posts.

Life and health is never a “one size fits all” so please hear me, YOU are in charge of YOUR health. It terrified me for so long to even write blog posts about how I do health in our family because people on the inter webs can be bullies and get highly offended VERY easily. If you are the type of parent that’s kids have been on antibiotics several times a year and you prefer to go to the Doctor at the first sign of a 99.9 temperature, just know that in this space, I’m probably writing all the opposite of that. That’s just how I was raised and how I do things for my family. We don’t take the kids to the Doctor unless 103+ fever for over 24-48 hours…. and that hasn’t happened yet. For me, I believe their little bodies are designed to heal themselves and really are built up strong by doing that. If my kids were in severe pain or sick for days on end, of COURSE I’m going to take them to our Pediatrician! But I do spend more time in the day to day realm of feeding them as well as I can and supplementing with great Probiotics, Kids Multivitamin, *Vitamin D3 drops and Briar Rose. I don’t give fever reducers – I treat the child, not the fever. If one of my kids are in pain, I’m going to go down the list of figuring out the problem and reason behind the pain before giving a medication. We absolutely LOVE our Pediatricians office now that gives AMAZING advice for the Cold & Flu season among many things. We are able to purchase several of our supplements from our Pediatric office now and have been introduced to a few new to us things since we started going there 18 months ago. Lithy Tree is another bottle we keep in the medicine cabinet to help with any respiratory issues that may arise. OH! And we’ve been singing the praises of Punkin Butt teething oil since I discovered it for Luke from our Pediatrician! I know many swear by the uses of Elderberry syrup but we don’t have any experience with that personally. I’ve never used or taken it myself and neither have the kids but I definitely believe it could be of great use! I will only share here what I personally take and use. The last thing I’ll mention is ImmunoGuard! Jeff started taking this around February 2012 which was a few months after his radiation series ended. He was getting sick worse than EVER! He started taking this even before truly adopting better life decisions and noticed a huge difference in his body’s ability to get well and stay well. Literally ever 3 weeks or so he would catch something new. He’d agree that this is one product he won’t go without, ever. ESPECIALLY now with his profession and being around the ickies all the time!

I have a natural inclination to research and think, think, think on things until I have a peace about the issue at hand. For me, I’ve spent the last 9 years as a mother just making sense of the health of my family and the values/routes I want to take. This is what works for us. Staying away from the doctors office/ER is best when it can be avoided. My husband had to go to the ER a few years back for a super crazy dislocated shoulder and was treated very well in different hospital settings for cancer removal and a hernia surgery at separate times. Those were NECESSARY. My Mom worked for an oral surgeon for many years and my Dad was a Firefighter so we pretty much didn’t go to the Doctor except for well checks. If our limbs were still attached and we weren’t gushing blood, we were going to be just fine. Needless to say, I blame them for the way I am today! I know I’ve touched on more than I originally anticipated and I do promise to do an extended post for kiddos but I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a peek into our medicine cabinet and my #1 favorite – Colloidal Silver
